Barley and Bean Cafe

We are a family run coffee shop and restaurant in the centre of Monaghan Town, upstairs inFlemings Department Store.

Community is at the heart of all that we do at Barley and Bean. From Orla and Locky and their family,to the team of superstars who work with us, many of whom have been working#upstairsinflemmings for a long time, we are proud to serve the people of Monaghan and beyond.

We believe in real food, locally sourced and made onsite, and prepared and plated with pride. Webelieve in food that can bring people together and is inclusive of all. And while we are serious aboutour food, we don’t take ourselves too seriously and take time to talk, to laugh and support ourcommunity.

We are open from 8.30am until 5pm, Monday through to Saturday. We have an extensive menu, serving breakfast, lunch, a home bakery and delicious Lavazza coffee. We have something foreveryone and here is just a sample of some of the options on our menu:

Monaghan Breakfast – Full or Mini; Avocado Smash; French Toast, Pancakes (made fresh in ourkitchen). We have an extensive salad bar, many of which are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.Delicious soups, all made from scratch – you won’t find any soup mix in our kitchen! We have a greatselection of sandwiches and if none of those take your fancy, you can create your own.

Chefs Locky and Sean create daily hot lunch specials - you could get a roast beef dinner or a breaded brie salad, the specials change every day. We have our very own baker who rises early each morning to makeall our scones and buns fresh each day, as well as homemade tarts, pavlovas, cheesecakes and awide range of cookies and traybakes. And not forgetting our delicious Lavazza coffee – we have something for everyone with Cappuccinos, Flat Whites, Lattes, Iced Coffees, an extensive range ofteas and gorgeous hot chocolates.

We have great floor space with seating capacity for 150 people – we are buggy friendly andwheelchair accessible. Our friendly and helpful staff will take good care of you and ensure that yourvisit to Barley and Bean is an enjoyable one.
