Set in the quiet surrounds of the beautiful Monaghan countryside lies the picturesque Swallow Studios. Run by designer hand weaver Liz Christy who has been designing and creating handwoven fabrics and scarves for over 30 years; this really is a hidden gem.
Meet Liz Christy and her team as she demonstrates the eco-friendly processes involved in creating her wonderful handmade pieces; from designing to hand dying and hand weaving. Hear the sounds of the busy studio with the clacking of the flying shuttles or witness the quiet concentration of threading or tying on a warp. Chat to the artists as they work and gain an insight into how the designs are inspired by a love of nature and the countryside converged with an innate passion for colour and art. Visitors gain a new level of appreciation for the time and skill involved in creating a piece of Liz Christy’s wearable art and the age-old tradition of hand weaving.
